Removing a light fixture and replacing it with a ceiling fan is a bad idea.  The weight and movement of a ceiling fan is too much for a simple lighting box, therefore you run the risk of the box failing and your beautiful new ceiling fan crashing to the ground.  It is best to replace that ceiling box with one that is rated to support the weight of a ceiling fan.
